BluOS Players can function without the Internet. BluOS only requires a router to communicate with other Bluesound players and to be accessed using the BluOS Controller App on an iOS/Android device or a Computer on the same network.
Without the Internet and only a router, you can still:
- Configure network shares from Computers (Windows/macOS) or NAS drives,
- Share content on a BluOS Storage device such as Bluesound VAULT or NAD M50.2,
- Playback files from a USB drive or
- Stream Bluetooth content to the Players.
The BluOS Player bit-perfect lossless ripping process to rip the CD collection on a Bluesound VAULT or NAD M50.2, requires Internet access. BluOS automatically locates and embeds the metadata tag information and album artwork from the Internet. Without Internet access, you should manually add the metadata using third-party editors.
BluOS also requires the Internet to stream from Music Services such as Spotify, Tidal, or TuneIn.
Internet access provides essential support features on the BluOS Controller App, including firmware upgrade notifications and access to Send Support Request (with diagnostic logs) from the Help menu.
