BluOS is proud to be the first multi-room ecosystem to support MQA files.
What is MQA?
Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) is a revolutionary end-to-end technology that captures and delivers master-quality audio in a small file to stream or download. What’s more? MQA is backward compatible, so it will play on any device, and as it is fully authenticated, the listener can be sure that they are listening to tracks of the same quality in which they were recorded and originally approved in the studio. The days of sacrificing quality for convenience are over!
BluOS includes a powerful decoder and audio renderer for the ‘Master Quality Authenticated’ system. This ensures that MQA-encoded audio files and streams sound exactly like the source.
How does MQA differ from other High-resolution audio formats?
Quality Preservation – MQA is designed to preserve the quality of the original studio recording, capturing and reproducing more details of the music compared to standard audio formats.
Studio Authentication – MQA includes a form of authentication that ensures the audio you are listening to is authenticated by the original studio, reducing the risk of tampering or degradation during distribution.
MQA Playback Indicator
In the BluOS Controller app, when the Player is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, the track is marked with an MQA logo. This logo serves as a Playback Quality indicator and includes a green or blue dot to signify that the track is an MQA Studio file. These files have either received approval in the studio from the artist/producer or have been verified by the copyright owner.
(Green) An original MQA File encoded at the source | |
(Blue) A 24-bit file – converted and confirmed as MQA |

Note
- Not all BluOS Ready or BluOS Enabled Players support MQA decoding or Playback. Refer to the respective BluOS hardware partner Support site for more information.
