BluOS Players can operate without the Internet. BluOS requires a router for communication with other BluOS Players and for accessibility via the BluOS Controller app on an iOS/Android device or a computer within the same network.
Without the Internet and only a router, you can still:
- Configure network shares from Computers (Windows/macOS) or NAS drives,
- Share content on a BluOS Storage device such as Bluesound VAULT or NAD M50.2,
- Playback files from a USB drive or
- Stream Bluetooth content to the Players.
The bit-perfect lossless ripping process of a CD collection on BluOS Players like Bluesound VAULT or NAD M50.2 requires an Internet connection. BluOS automatically identifies and includes metadata tag information and album artwork from the Internet. In the absence of Internet access, you will need to manually incorporate metadata using third-party editing tools.
BluOS also requires the Internet to stream from Music Services such as Spotify, Tidal, or TuneIn.
Internet access provides essential support features on the BluOS Controller app, including firmware upgrade notifications and access to the Send Support Request function that allows transmission of diagnostic logs.
