An index of the BluOS local Library searches for Album Artwork from the following locations:
- The same folder containing the music file – stored as folder.jpg, cover.jpga), folder.png, or cover.png, or
- A JPEG or PNG embedded into the metadata of the music file
Optimize Artwork
To Optimize Artwork, perform the following steps:
Android/iOS - Optimize Artwork
- In the BluOS Controller App, tap the Home tab > Settings button > Music library.
- Toggle to enable Optimize Artwork.
Windows/macOS - Optimize Artwork
- In the BluOS Controller App, under the left Navigation Drawer, select Settings.
- Select Music library.
- Toggle to enable Optimize Artwork.
With Optimize Artwork enabled, the BluOS firmware is not concerned with the actual resolution of the file (300x300, 500x500, 1024x1024). The limit is only on the size of the artwork file. BluOS resizes any external graphic file larger than 600 KB but less than 4 MB in size to a 600x600 JPG. Portable Network Graphic files (.png) are also resized and converted to 600x600 JPG.
With Optimize Artwork disabled, ensure the artwork is of a resolution lower than 1200x1200 pixels and less than 600 KB in sizeb).
Embedded Artwork
When using embedded artwork, ensure each track on the album has the artwork attachedc) to the metadata – to display the artwork correctly.
BluOS does not include a metadata editing tool. Many fine editors are available online for various digital music types. For more information on metadata editing, refer to our Help Center article.
Rebuild Index
If you still have issues with the artwork:
Android/iOS - Rebuild Index
- Tap the Home tab > Settings button . Under the Help & Support section, select Diagnostics > Rebuild Index.
Windows/macOS - Rebuild Index
- Under the left Navigation Drawer, select Help > Diagnostics > Rebuild Index.
If you find the artwork out of the ordinary (completely black or older albums), select Settings > Reload artwork to clear the old cache from the iOS or Android device. All the artwork disappears and reloads as you scroll through the BluOS Controller App.
Notes
- a)The cover.jpg file supersedes all other options (including embedded artwork) – to allow easier changes in folder artwork.
- b)Check out www.blisshq.com (BluOS-certified third-party app) to correctly resize the album artwork.
- c)Embedded Artwork should be smaller than 600 KB to be picked up by the indexing process.
