When music is added to the BluOS library, whether it's sourced from a network share or ripped to a VAULT, the BluOS Controller app will extract and utilize the ID3 metadata associated with the music to correctly populate the artist name, album name, and track name.
The ID3 metadata utilized by BluOS remains unaffected by the folder in which the music is stored or the filename of the actual file. If you require to modify the ID3 metadata within your music library, you should use a third-party metadata editor external to BluOS.
When you are editing the metadata of the tracks, the BluOS Controller app utilizes the following tags:
TITLE | The name of the song |
ARTIST | The name of the contributing artist on the song |
ALBUM | The name of the album this song is from |
ALBUMARTIST | The name of the artist you would like the album to be listed under. This is useful for compilation albums to mark as "Various Artists." |
TRACK | The number of tracks on the album |
GENRE | The genre of the song or album |
DISCNUMBER | If using a multiple-disk album, this tag can be used to identify which disk the song is from |
COVER | The album artwork for this song. This image file will need to be less than 600 Kb in size. |
After making any changes to your metadata, updating the BluOS Controller app about these changes is essential by performing a Reindex music collection.
Reindex Music Collection
To perform a Reindex Music Collection, perform the following steps:
Android/iOS - Reindex Music Collection
- Launch the BluOS Controller app, and navigate to the Home tab > Settings button .
- Tap Music library > Reindex music collection.
When the reindex is complete, relaunch the BluOS Controller app and the library will be populated with the updated metadata.
Windows/macOS - Reindex Music Collection
- Launch the BluOS Controller app, and under the left Navigation Drawer, click Settings.
- Click Music library > Reindex music collection.
When the reindex is complete, relaunch the BluOS Controller app and the library will be populated with the updated metadata.
Notes
- While the BluOS player is indexing, the Status Indicator LED is White. When the indexing is complete, the Status indicator returns to solid Blue.
- If the metadata is not updated in the BluOS Controller app even after a Reindex music collection, perform Rebuild Index to completely clear the existing index and construct it anew from the beginning.
