With the release of BluOS version 4.14.9, players still on BluOS version 1.X must update their firmware to continue using that player. Players on versions 2.X and 3.X will be notified to update their firmware for a period of time (no earlier than May 1st 2026) before being unable to continue using that player without updating the firmware.
Please see How to update the BluOS firmware version on my Bluesound Player for details on updating.

Alternate Solution
You may choose to continue using the currently installed version of BluOS but without using the current version of the BluOS Controller App, by manually disabling automatic updates of all apps on your smartphone or tablet.
WARNING!!!This is a device wide setting affecting all apps on your phone or tablet, not just BluOS. |
This is not recommended.
For iOS Devices
- Open Settings: Tap the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Navigate to App Store: Scroll down and tap on "App Store".
- Disable Updates: Under the "Automatic Downloads" section, turn off the toggle for App Updates.
You will now have to manually update every App individually using the Apple App Store.
For Android Devices
- Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device.
- Select Menu.
- Select Settings.
- Select Auto-update Apps.
- Select Don't auto-update apps, and select Done.
Individual Apps will now be updated when responding to update prompts in the Apps themselves. Do not update the BluOS App.
For Windows or macOS
When prompted, decline the offer to download and update the BluOS App every time the App is launched.
