BluOS indexes the Music Library when a Network share is added. The duration of indexing depends upon network setup, size, source, and metadata (image files/metadata tags) of the Music Library.
BluOS Players with a wireless connection index 600 tracks per minute, while Players with a wired ethernet connection index 1200 tracks per minute.
BluOS recommends selecting Players with a wired connection to perform Reindex/Rebuild Index requests. This is especially true for Storage-enabled BluOS Players such as Bluesound VAULT or NAD M50.2 – as these Players can access their internal storage faster than other Players.
When you add or remove tracks from the Music Library, perform a Reindex music collection to update the index. BluOS Players examine files at the rate of 1200 tracks in 20-30 seconds, depending on the connection and number of changes.
To Reindex, refer to our Help Center article.
Rebuild Index, on the other hand, deletes the previous index entirely and recreates a new index. To Rebuild Index, refer to our Help Center article.
Selecting Optimize Artwork reduces the size of the artwork database when creating the Music Library. This improves the performance when accessing the BluOS Controller App. However, this considerably increases the indexing time.
