BLS-KB15-202
Adding a Network Share
BluOS Players will pull music from an existing digital Music Library across the network using Windows SMB File Sharing (SAMBA) provided network sharing is enabled. Please see these Help Centre articles to enable file sharing on your PC:
- Windows 7 or 10: BLS-KB14-601 - File Sharing - Microsoft Windows
- Apple Macintosh: BS-KB14-602 - File Sharing - MacOS
You will however need to point the BluOS Player to the Library. To do this, open the BluOS App on a smartphone, tablet or PC:
- From the Rooms Drawer, select any desired Player
- Please note, a wired Player will index faster than one connected only by Wi-Fi
- From the Navigation Drawer, select Settings, Music Library, Network Shares
- Select Find Network Shares
- Check the Music Folder Name for all desired Shares and click Add selected shares
- If the desired Shares do not appear select Enter share manually
- If you selected Enter share manually, enter \\{name-of-computer}\{share-path} in the Enter Share Name field
- {name-of-computer} can be substituted by NetBIOS name or the computer’s IP Address
- {share-path} enter the shared folder (and any desired sub-folders)
- Enter the User and ID and password if required
- Press Add network shares
- Reindex will begin automatically, progress can be monitored in the Navigation Drawer of the selected Player
- When indexing is completed the Play/Pause Button will return to solid Blue: select Library from the Navigation Drawer to access the collection
Upon completion of configuring a network share, the BluOS Player will, in the background, pass a notification to all other Players on the network that it has connected to a new Music Source.
Removing a Network Share
